Township Police Department Welcomes Three New Officers

New officers will spend three to four months training in the department before heading out on the road, police chief says

Berkeley Township will soon have three new police officers on the road, now that they have graduated from the Ocean County Police Academy.

Officers Brian Bargas, Edward Hendrickson and Timothy Pizzella also took home some of the academy's top awards, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

"They started their training period, which will take approximately three to four months," DiMichele said. "This puts us at 68 sworn officers."

Hendrickson won the academy's high fitness award and the high overall award. Pizzella took the high marksmanship award, the chief said.

"We wish them the best of luck as they start their careers and we are proud of the dedication and hard work that they have shown so far," the chief said.
