Berkeley Police Charge Waretown Man With Drunk Driving

Arrest came after motor vehicle stop on Route 9, chief says



A Waretown man was recently arrested and charged with driving while under the influence after a motor vehicle stop, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Patrolman Michael Ptaszenski stopped Thomas Materiale, 20 at 2 a.m. on March 9, on Route 9 near Harbor Inn Road. Further investigation revealed that Material was operating the vehicle while under the influence, the chief said.

He was taken to police headquarters, processed and released on a summons. His car was impounded in accordance with John's Law, DiMichele said.
