Berkeley Police Charge Toms River Woman With Drunk Driving


A Toms River woman is facing drunk driving charges after police stopped her car on Fischer Boulevard near Route 37 on a traffic violation that happened in the Berkeley section of Pelican Island, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

Sgt. Peter La Rocca conducted the stop at 7:30 p.m. on March 8. Further investigation revealed that Kirchner, 54, was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, the chief said.

Kirchner was arrested and transported to police headquarters. Her car was impounded as per Johns Law, DiMichele said.

Sgt. Philip Smith, Ptl. Michael O’Connor and the Toms River Police Department assisted.
