Berkeley police recently arrested a Bayville man after they responded to The Cove restaurant on a theft report, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.
Police went to the restaurant off Bayview Avenue on May 16, after the victim reported that his wallet, keys and phone were taken off the bar counter, the chief said.
The suspect was identified after further investigation as Gerard McNie, 48. Patrolman Robert Ashton located McNie at 12:30 a.m. on May 17 and charged him with theft, DiMichele said.
McNie was taken to police headquarters, where he was processed and later released on a summons, the chief said.
