Berkeley Man, 51, Charged With Burglarizing Lacey's Pan Asia Restaurant

A Berkeley man has been arrested in connection with a burglary and vandalism at the Pan Asia Restaurant, police said.

According to police:

On Feb. 18, officers responded to the Pan Asia Restaurant at the Lakeside Plaza, 416 South Main Street in Forked River for a report of an attempted burglary.

Upon opening his business, the owner of the Pan Asia Restaurant discovered extensive damage to the rear door of the business and to the interior of an attached mechanical room.

It appeared that the damage occurred during the overnight hours. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 51-year-old John Santo of 41 Frederick Drive in Bayville. Santo was charged with Burglary as well as $1,800 worth of criminal mischief.

Santo was released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
