Beachwood Man Had Pot, Weapons in Car, Police Say

Jonathan T. Pickard was arrested following a car stop on Route 571 Tuesday.

A Beachwood man was arrested after an officer found him carrying marijuana and several weapons, including a blow gun and a dagger, when he was stopped on Route 571 Tuesday morning, Manchester Township Police said.

Officer Brian Volk stopped Jonathan T. Pickard, 23, just after 10 a.m., and smelled raw marijuana as he walked over to Pickard's Toyota, police said.

After Pickard allowed a search of the car, Volk found the drugs, as well as a dirk-style dagger, a collapsible metal police baton, a blow gun and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Pickard, who admitted having no legitimate reason for having the weapons, was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a court summons.

Also assisting at the scene were Manchester Officers Paul Bachovchin and Patrick Mabie.
