Beachwood Man With 8-Year-Old In Car Charged With Drunk Driving

Arrest took place in mid-afternoon near Route 9 and Scott Drive

 

Police pulled over a Beachwood man who appeared to be driving erratically and charged him with drunken driving after he failed a number of field sobriety tests.

Adam Petersen, 45, Berkeley Avenue, had an eight-year-old child in the car with him when he was stopped by police at 3:34 p.m. on Jan. 7, according to the police report.

Patrolman John Fosbre conducted a motor vehicle stop after he observed Petersen's Dodge Caravan suddenly turn onto the shoulder near the Applegate Garden Center on Route 9 without using turn signal, then stop abruptly.

Petersen then quickly drove back onto Route 9. Fosbre stopped him in the parking lot of Richard's Sub World on the corner of Route 9 and Scott Drive, the report states.

The officer observed the child in the rear seat of the car and a strong odor of alcohol in the car. Petersen's eyes were watery and bloodshot, according to the report.

Petersen was also charged with failure to use a turn signal and failure to wear a seatbelt, the report states.
