BEACHWOOD — A child was almost abducted by a man in a car earlier this afternoon while walking along a side street in the borough, but managed to get away, according to Ocean County Sheriff's Department.

The man grabbed the 11-year-old on Cable Avenue and put him in the back seat of a black Audi, but the child broke free and called 911.

He drove away, but it is unclear where he headed. People are told to call 911 if they see a man who fits this description, but not to approach him

Police later released a composite sketch of the man.

The suspect, described as a bald and clean shaven white male in his mid-late 40s, approximately 6'2"-6'3" with a thin build, was wearing a black leather jacket and white T-shirt and driving a fairly new model Audi black four-door sedan with yellow New Jersey license plates, according a bulletin from the Beachwood Police Department.

If you have any information, authorities ask that you contact Dsg. Glen DeMarco of the Beachwood Police Department at (732) 286-6000 x191 or Det. Jason Steele of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 929-2027 x2432.
