Bayville Man Indicted in Alleged Seaside Heights Assault

Grand juries hand up indictments

A Bayville man faces assault and weapon charges in connection with a Seaside Heights arrest.

Steven E. Segal, 20, of Harlequin Glade was indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury after being arrested on May 20 and accused of using a knife to assault a man in Seaside Heights. 

He was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose.

Segal was initially held on $100,000 bail but posted July 22.

  • William G. Needham, 26, of Bayville on burglary and theft charges.

Needham was arrested March 8 and accused of breaking into a Surf Avenue, Beachwood home, where he allegedly stole jewelry.

Needham is being held in Ocean County Jail on $25,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

  • Brian M. Schremmer, 24, of Bayville on assault and criminal mischief charges.

Schremmer was arrested Nov. 26 and accused of two counts of assault for allegedly causing injury to two different men. He also damaged a television owned by a third victim, the indictment states.

He was released on a summons.

  • Christopher P. Butler, 25, of Bayville on burglary and theft charges.

Butler is accused of breaking into a Plumsted business between Aug. 1 and Nov. 28 and stealing gift cards, cash and a camera card. He was held on $1,000 bail.
