Bayville Man Arrested On Drug Charges

Police arrest 21-year-old and charge him with possession of CDS, marijuana

 

Something about the young man walking up and down Jonathan Drive in Bayville recently didn't seem right. So an area resident called police.

When Patrolman Edward Lagreca responded on July 14, he spotted Steven Leao, 21, who fit the description. Lagreca pulled over and questioned him, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said.

Leao, Aikens Street, was found to be in possession of Subutex, a drug used to treat opiate addiction, and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. He did not have a prescription for the medication, Smith said.

He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance under 50 grams and possession of marijuana under 50 grams, said Smith.

Municipal Court Judge James set Leao's bail at $2,500. He posted bail and was released on his own recognizance, Smith
