The Berkeley Township Police Department's annual D.A.R.E Car Show and Festival will kick off at 11 a.m. in Veterans Park on Sunday.

"This is our fourth show at Veterans Park," said Patrolman Scott Selby, who oversees the D.A.R.E. drug abuse resistance program in the Berkeley Township elementary schools and at Central Regional Middle School. "It's growing."

The event will feature food, music provided by D.J. Bob the D.J., children's rides and activities, facepainting, raffles, a children's coloring contest and prizes, Selby said.

The D.A.R.E. program's goal is to provide children with information and skills to live drug and violence-free lives. It gives them tools to avoid negative influences and make good decisions, according to the website at berkeleydare.org.
