Ann Masterson of Holiday City Dies At 86

Mother of six, grandmother of 11 killed in car accident in Holiday City Saturday

Ann Masterson (nee Sweeney), 86, of Holiday City, Berkeley Township,passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014.

Born and raised in Newark,  she lived in Kenilworth for over 40 years before moving to Berkeley Township in 2006.

Ann was a Municipal Clerk for the Kenilworth Township for 10 years and was a hospice volunteer in Union County for 10 years.

She was parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church in Berkeley Township and was a former member of St. Theresa R.C. Church in Kenilworth.

She was also a member of the Women of Irish Heritage, Spring Lake, NJ, the Irish American Club of Holiday City Berkeley and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, West Orange, NJ.

A beautiful life that came to an end, she died as she lived, everyone’s friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept of one we loved and will never forget.

Ann was predeceased by her husband, William Masterson, in 2007.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Kevin and Christine Masterson of Trenton, Maureen and Stephen Palmere of Eaton, NY, Karen and Ted Phillips of Waretown,  Theresa and Gerry Blass of Colts Neck, Barbara Masterson and Carol of Kenilworth, and Nancy andDoug Hunter of Elizabeth, a brother and sister-in- law John and Pat Sweeney of Lavallette, two sisters, Bridget Sweeney of Brick, and Mary Hall of Belmar, 11 grandchildren Christine, Rana, Melanie, Bryan, Billie, Leah, Tara, Greg, Trevor, Sean and Kailey, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Blvd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 11:30am at St. Maximilian Kolbe R.C. Church, Berkeley Township. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or a charity of your choice.
