Ambulance Overturns On Route 9 In Heavy Snow Conditions

No injuries reported, chief says

by Patricia A. Miller

A Northeast Metro ambulance traveling southbound on Route 9 in Bayville spun out of control on the icy roadway Thursday night and landed on its side, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

No one was injured in the 8:52 p.m. accident and no patients were in the ambulance, which ended up on the front lawn of a business. A mailbox in front of the Learning Experience at 839 Route 9 was damaged, the chief said.

"The weather was heavy snow with accumulation on the roadway, making for slippery conditions," DiMichele said.
