Ambulance Overturns On Route 9 In Heavy Snow Conditions

No injuries reported, chief says

by Patricia A. Miller

A Northeast Metro ambulance traveling southbound on Route 9 in Bayville spun out of control on the icy roadway Thursday night and landed on its side, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele said.

No one was injured in the 8:52 p.m. accident and no patients were in the ambulance, which ended up on the front lawn of a business. A mailbox in front of the Learning Experience at 839 Route 9 was damaged, the chief said.

"The weather was heavy snow with accumulation on the roadway, making for slippery conditions," DiMichele said.

You would think that they would have done that already, but I guess not.

8:52 last night, it was just starting maybe they were driving "too fast for conditions"?

Just so glad to hear everyone was ok.Streets are pretty messy out there now and still very slick.

The Township has to invest in salt. Rt. 9 is not the only road with icy conditions. Now that the snow is melting pretty quickly today, the temps are gonna drop in the teens tonight, so watch out, roads are gonna be slick once again.
