Ambulance Driver In Berkeley Hospitalized After Crash; Faces Careless Driving
The driver of the ambulance, Sarah Pomponio, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Bayville Fire Department.
An ambulance driver in Berkeley was hospitalized and charged with careless driving last week after being involved in crash, police said.
On June 10 at 1:45 p.m., the Berkeley Township Police responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on Route 9 at the intersection of Central Parkway. A Ford F-150 was traveling north on Route 9 when a private ambulance pulled onto Rt 9 causing the two vehicles to collide.
The driver of the ambulance, Sarah Pomponio, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Bayville Fire Department. Pomponio was transported to Community Medical Center by Bayville First Aid. Pomponio was issued a summons for careless driving. Route 9 was closed for about 45 minutes.
Ptl. Michael Riccardelli from the Berkeley Township Traffic Safety Bureau is the investigating officer. Sgt. Ryan Roth and Ptl. Michael Poikens assisted.
