Lanoka Harbor Woman Charged With Careless Driving After Accident Near Double Trouble State Park Entrance

Berkeley Township police have charged a Lanoka Harbor woman with careless driving, following a two-car crash on Pinewald-Keswick Road near the entrance to Double Trouble State Park yesterday, Sgt. Ryan Roth said.

Kaitlyn Davis, 18, Lanoka Harbor, was attempting to make a left turn into the state park around 5:21 p.m Tuesday, when her car struck a Ford sports utility vehicle traveling eastbound on Pinewald-Keswick Road.

The SUV's driver, Lauren Helm, 29, Lanoka Harbor, was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center with chest, left arm and left hip pain. Her vehicle was forced off the roadway from the impact and rolled over several times before coming to a stop, Roth said.

Davis told police she did not see the Helm's vehicle as it traveled through the intersection. Four passengers in her car confirmed her account, he said.

Patrolman John Houghkirk Jr., Patrolman Michael Tier, Sgt. Brian Woermer, Sgt. Kevin Santucci and Lt. Robert Andrews responded to the accident, along with the Pinewald Pioneer Fire Department and the Bayville First Aid Squad

Davis told police she was at fault, which was confirmed by the accident investigation, Roth said.
