A 67-year-old man died Tuesday after he was found trapped beneath a bulldozer in Lakewood, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
At 9:47 a.m., Lakewood Police received several 911 calls reporting a man trapped beneath a bulldozer at 688 Cross Street in Lakewood. Lakewood Police and MONOC 207 responded and found Angel L. Martinez, 67, of Lakewood trapped under the roof of a bulldozer which had overturned on its side.
First responders immediately administered first aid and made attempts to free Martinez. However, he was pronounced dead via telemetry by Newark Beth Israel at 10:01 a.m.
The initial investigation by Lakewood police, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department CIU found that Martinez, who was employed by NJ Advanced Construction LLC of Lakewood, was attempting to drive the bulldozer onto a trailer, according to the prosecutor's office.
It then flipped off the ramp, trapping Martinez under the right side of the vehicle’s roof.
Lakewood First Aid/EMS responded and extricated the man from beneath the bulldozer. The man was transported to Community Medical Center by representatives from Kedz Funeral Home.
