Maria M. Hickman

AGE: 74 • Beachwood, NJ

Maria M. Hickman (Morrow), beloved and beautiful wife of John M. Hickman of Beachwood, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 10 at Jersey Shore Medical Center after a very brief illness.

She was predeceased by her parents Charles E. Morrow and Mae Morrow and brother Kenneth, all of Trenton. She was born in Trenton, November 21, 1939 and lived in Washington State and Trenton before moving to Beachwood in 1968.

She and Jack enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage and had three children- Lisa M. Donini and husband Michael of Toms River, John M. Hickman II and wife Joanne of Jersey City and Deirdre Hickman of Hammonton. She adored and was the much loved "Mimi" to her five grandchildren, Samantha, Olivia and Paul Donini of Toms River and Trevor and Russell Hickman of Jersey City.

She attended Trenton State College and was the Recreation Director of Leisure Village West for 28 years, making many friends along the way. After her retirement she enjoyed being involved in volunteer work with Open Arms of Toms River, as a crisis hotline volunteer for CONTACT and as an active member of the Bayville Elks Lodge 2394.

All who knew her could not but enjoy her wonderful smile, her sense of humor and her infectious energy. Her love of life was boundless, her joy in her family and friends endless. She brought joy and love to so many people, and without her the world is a smaller, sadder place.

A memorial gathering for the celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 15 at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals O'Connell Chapel, 706 U.S. Highway 9, Bayville, followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Open Arms, P.O. Box 1121, Toms River, New Jersey 08754. -
