UPDATE: Services for Clifford B. Wright - Founder Of Bayville First Aid Squad - Slated For Today

Celebration of Life ceremony to be held Saturday at Mastapeter Funeral Home in Bayville

Clifford B. Wright, 86, of Bayville, passed away peacefully, at home on Thursday, June 26, 2014 following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Clifford was born on October 21, 1927 in Bayville, where he became a lifetime resident and an "icon."

Clifford B. Wright served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy. Shortly after his time in the Navy he met the woman who would become his beloved wife, Ethel. Clifford and Ethel had a glorious marriage that continued for over 65 years. Together they created a beautiful family consisting of three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Clifford was a member of the Bayville Fire Department and one of the founders/organizers of the Bayville First Aid Squad, where he served his community for over 58 years. He was a Life Member of the New Jersey State First Aid Council for over 60 years, a Life Member of VFW Post 9503, and served on the Berkeley Township School Board for six years.

Clifford is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel D. Wright; his brothers Herbert I. Wright III and William Wright; his son Thomas J. Wright and wife, Dorothy Wright; his son Kenneth C. Wright and companion, Maureen McCarthy; his daughter Cynthia L. Ruggiero and husband, Robert D. Ruggiero; his grandchildren Michael Wright, Adam Wright, Kevin Wright, Kristopher Wright, Gary Ruggiero, Robert Ruggiero, and Kristy Ruggiero; his great-grandchildren, Lillian Wright and Kyler Wright; and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mastapeter Funeral Home on 270 Atlantic City Boulevard (Rt. 9) in Bayville, 08721.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers being sent, that donations be made to the Van Dyke Hospice Foundation, 99 Rt. 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755.
