20 Oldest Inmates In New Jersey Prisons; Ocean County Convict, 84, On List

Albert Mandycz was convicted in 2009 of a sexually assaulting an Ocean County girl in 2001 and 2002, when she was 6 and 7 years old.

There were 23,123 inmates in New Jersey prisons at the start of 2013, including about 3,900 who were there for homicide and 1,200 who were serving life terms.

The median age for inmates is 34. About 2 percent of all inmates, 338 of them, were more than 65 years old. We wanted to take a look at who the oldest current inmates were, and what landed them in prison.
