O.C. Health Department In Bayville This Weekend With Sandy Help

Ocean County Health Department employees will be in Bayville on Saturday and Sunday to help residents deal with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

The outreach will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Berkeley Township Recreation Building at 630 Route 9 South, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

Residents can receive Tdap vaccinations, tetanus boosters and pick up information on mold guidelines, West Nile virus, safe swimming, OCHD services masks, gloves, hand sanitizers and prescription drop-off locations, the mayor said.

“The OCHD has been providing Tdap vaccinations to first responders immediately after the storm and then began offering the Tdap vaccination, at no cost, to those affected by the storm, said Ocean County Public Health Coordinator Daniel E. Regenye. "It is extremely important that people be vaccinated against tetanus before they begin or continue to clean up debris.”

“Staff at the Health Department continue to monitor the after effects of “Sandy” throughout the county and have been working closely with each municipality to address unmet needs," he said. "We are receiving numerous calls regarding mold and confusion on what to do about removal."
