Berkeley Shores Annual Blessing Of The Fleet Slated For Sunday

The Berkeley Shores Homeowners Civic Association is having a Memorial Day weekend party and everyone is invited.

First on the schedule of the May 25 event is the Annual Blessing of the Fleet and Memorial Day Service. Participating boats will make their way through the main lagoon, cruise through the Amherst Beach Inlet into Barnegat Bay and head east to Channel Marker 39.

A wreath will be laid upon the waters in honor of service men and women. Participants are encouraged to bring a rose or carnation (not artificial) to toss in the water during the ceremony. The United States Marine Corps Color Guard will present the colors and play taps.
