Central Regional Senior Athlete Signs with University of Alabama

Standing at 6'7", Central Regional senior, Andrew DiPiazza, has signed a letter of intent to continue his post-secondary education and baseball career at the University of Alabama in the fall 2014.  His experience as a hard throwing, right-handed pitcher for the Central Regional Golden Eagles has led his team to the South Jersey Group 3 Semi-finals in 2012.  During that same year, Andrew recorded a 9-0 record with 108 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched while recording a .80 earned run average.  On opening day last season against Point Pleasant Boro, he threw a complete 17 strikeout no-hitter.  Andrew's accolades include Shore Conference Pitcher of the Year for All Shore Media, 1st Team All State, All Shore, All County and B South Conference Pitcher of the Year.  Outside of Central, he plays for the AAU Team, Monmouth County NJ Marlins and he was selected in 2013 to represent the Yankees and the Northeast at the prestigious Area Code Games in Los Angeles during the summer.  "Andrew is the hardest working young man I have ever coached.  He understands that he is good, but he wants to be great and not waste the talent he possesses," stated Central Regional Head Baseball Coach, John Scran.  Andrew demonstrates what it takes to be a successful student and athlete during his time at Central.  "Andrew has matured into an exemplary leader on and off the playing field.  Although gifted with talent, his work ethic makes him a standout.  Out of season or after a game, it is not unusual to find Andrew putting in the extra time and sweat.  His personal drive will undoubtedly help him meet future challenges.  Andrew is already a source of pride for CRHS and we wish him continued success," added Dr. Corbett, Central Regional High School Principal.
