On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, staff from the Central Regional School District attended the Ocean First Foundation reception where the high school was announced as a $15,000 Model Classroom Grant recipient.  Central Regional High School was selected from among 72 schools that applied for the grant. "The goal of the Model Classroom Grant Program is to support bold and innovative schools that have the vision, creativity and desire to develop model classrooms for learning." stated Ocean First Foundation.  Central Regional High School will be using the funds to build upon their "Writing Across the Curriculum" program to improve reading, comprehension, and the writing abilities of students.  The WRITE Place (W-write; R-reading; I-information; T-thinking; E-education) will be a full-service location for students to master writing, reading, comprehension and communication skills.  It will also focus on preparing students for college level classes and the successful pursuit of employment beyond high school.

Renovations and technology upgrades will transform the classroom into a student-initiated writing center.  The layout will consist of a Brainstorming Center set up as a comfortable lounge area meant to promote a relaxed atmosphere to encourage creative thinking; a Writing Center equipped with iPads, laptops and work tables to enable students to write comfortably wit easy Internet accessibility for research; and a Peer Editing Center set up with rectangular tables and chairs to allow students to evaluate each other's work.

Congratulations to Central Regional School District!!
