Message from Mayor Carmen F. Amato, Jr.

A Message from Mayor Carmen F. Amato, Jr.

I want to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude to the residents of Berkeley Township for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor. I hope to, from time to time, update residents through this blog on what's happening in Berkeley Township.

At the start of my new administration, we are at a positive beginning of what is going to be active, challenging and rewarding. Over the next four years, I will stay focused on making our government responsive, efficient, open, and fair.

I promise to work hard to make great things happen. I know that in 2016, we will all be able to look back at 2012 with pride. I pledge to the citizens of Berkeley Township that my door will always be open.

I pledge to work hard to develop, and implement, a sound financial plan for Berkeley Township, to deliver cost efficient services at a price we can all afford.  As I enter the Mayor's office, I am determined to stay focused on our values, and on the planned priorities that will make our Township stronger and sustainable.

We must make choices today that meet our needs without jeopardizing the needs of our children, our grandchildren, and future generations. Berkeley Township will continue to have strong, safe neighborhoods where children can play outside, where families can walk and bike, and have access to parks and healthy, recreational opportunities.

Our neighborhoods have active organizations that work together to take control of their neighborhoods and to work effectively with township officials and law enforcement agencies.  As your Mayor, I pledge to meet challenges, and opportunities, with an unmatched enthusiasm, with your trust and confidence. As I said before, I hold my door open to all citizens of Berkeley Township, regardless of political affiliation.

I am here to represent each and every one of you.  I also wish to congratulate our newly elected Council members John Bacchione, Thomas Grosse and Robert Ray and our newly appointed Council members James Byrnes and Kevin Askew.

Together, with Council members Judith Noonan and Francis Siddons, we will all work to make Berkeley Township a happy, healthy, safe place to live, work and retire.  I would also like to thank former Councilwoman Karen Davis for her years of dedicated service to our community.

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP HOTLINE

I recently announced a new "hot line" for residents’ suggestions, concerns or complaints, aimed at improving government responsiveness to taxpayers and improving the quality of life in town.

My goal is to make local government more responsive to our residents and improve our quality of life. The new Hot Line will provide residents with one stop access to Township government and allow us to more effectively and efficiently respond to resident’s suggestions, concerns or complaints.

The local number, 732-244-7400 ext: 203, has been set up as a 24 hour residential "Hot Line" and I encourage residents to use it, promising a quick response. The next business day, my office will address these issues with the appropriate department and contact the resident for follow up if needed.

In addition to the "Hot Line", those who are computer savvy can also go on line to the township web site: www.berkeleytownship.org and next to the Mayor's message can click on the link for suggestions or feedback.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
