The newspaper was one of the most prolific and popular news sources in all of South Jersey and southern Ocean County, south of Berkeley Township. The newspaper's coverage changed in recent years when it closed its Manahawkin office on Route 9 and made similar cost-cutting moves.

The Asbury Park Press, which also covers southern Ocean County, announced last week that the newspaper is closing its Neptune office.
