Fair Haven's Distinctive Toys has begun a toy drive to benefit area children affected by Sandy for the holidays. Store owner Margaret Spicer has released the following message:
You can make a difference this holiday season in the lives of children from surrounding towns that have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy.
Join Distinctive Toys, the Knights of Columbus, Life Guard Ecumenical Foundation (LGEF), and rebuildrecover.org as we create Sandy’s Toy Shoppe, a place where affected families can come and select age-appropriate toys for their children.
Distinctive Toys is soliciting donations of toys from its vendors and we are asking for your support as well.
From Nov. 18 through Dec. 24, all donations made via PayPal on the LGEF Web site will be used exclusively to provide our fellow neighbors who lost so much to Sandy with the holiday that they and their families deserve.
With your help, the magic of Christmas and Chanukah will carry on this year as it always has.
We have just now reopened after the destruction of Sandy. We know our holiday season will not be a great one, so we are putting all our efforts into this endeavor.
Please let me know what information you need to get on board. We are a member of ASTRA as well.
At our Sandy's Toy Shoppe, we will be staging, families will be able to come and pick toys for the specific ages of their children.
This method will help them retain their dignity while allowing them to choose for their family. We are hoping to have hundreds of families come and receive gifts for both Chanukah and Christmas.
Any assistance you can give will be appreciated.
