Central Regional Students Head Back To School Today

Central Regional High School students will have a very early start this year when the first bell rings at 7 a.m.

The current enrollment at the high school is 1,315, Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides said.

Students in the middle school will start classes at 8 a.m. and end at 2:40 p.m. Middle School enrollment currently totals 645, he said.

The Central Regional school district accepts students from five sending towns - Berkeley Township, Ocean Gate, Island Heights, Seaside Heights and Seaside Park.

Last year the Seaside Heights Board of Education broke with the Toms River Regional school district and opted to go with Central Regional.

The Hugh J. Boyd Elementary School in Seaside Heights currently has 180 students enrolled. School hours at the elementary school are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Today is the first day the school has reopened since Superstorm Sandy.

"We are excited about the new video marquee at the high school and the new student center," Parlapanides said. "I am really excited about the PSAT and SAT book camp to really raise scores in those areas."
