Snow Over, But Frigid Temperatures Expected For Next Two Days
by Patricia A. Miller
The calendar may say March, but it's more like January in coastal New Jersey.
The snowstorm that was supposed to drop up to 16 inches of snow in the southern part of the state didn't. By the time it arrived late last night, forecasters had downplayed the totals to six inches.
But the bitter cold will hang around at least until Wednesday, when there will be a slight warming trend, according to the National Weather Service.
Expect cloudy skies for the rest of the day, with a high of only 25 degrees. Tonight will be bitterly cold, with a low near 10 degrees and a wind chill around zero, the weather service said.
Tuesday will be mostly sunny in the morning, with a high in the upper 20s. Clouds will increase in the afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy Tuesday night, with a low near 16 degrees.
Temperatures will begin to moderate on Wednesday, with a high near 39 degrees.
Snowfall was heavier in the southern portion of the state. How much did your town get? Tell us in the comments section below.
