PHOTO GALLERY : Beaches Still Quiet On A Summer-Like April Day

Although the temperatures reached into the balmy 80s on the mainland, the air on the beaches of Seaside Park, South Seaside Park and Island Beach State Park was decidely cooler today.

Few sunbathers ventured onto the beaches and those who did covered up in hooded sweatshirts and blankets. Some fisherman tried their luck and cast into the surf. A strong east wind blew off the water to keep things cool.

Mainlanders who made the trip over the Thomas J. Mathis and J. Stanley Tunney bridges that span Barnegat Bay had quite a wait due to construction that closed all but one lane to traffic.
