Lakewood Police Officer Charged With Official Misconduct
A Lakewood police officer has been suspended without pay after he was arrested and charged with official misconduct, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato said.
Patrolman Jeremy Felder was arrested following an investigation by the Prosecutor's Office and the Lakewood Police Department.
Felder is accused of illegally searching a vehicle in August 2013, which resulted in the seizure of illegal controlled dangerous substances, Coronato said.
Evidence developed during the investigation shows that Felder allegedly participated in an illegal search of the vehicle and subsequently falsified documents and his police report to conceal his wrongdoing, the prosecutor said.
The charges filed by Felder against the occupants of the motor vehicle were dismissed, he said.
Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels set Felder's bail at $15,000, with no 10 percent option.
Felder has been a member of the Lakewood Police Department since August 2011.
