Five Things Happening in Berkeley This Week

A special visitor slated to drop by Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library on Wednesday

Tuesday - Berkeley Township Council Meeting, 7 p.m., Town Hall. Caucus starts at 7 p.m., regular meeting follows immediately after. Council is slated to discuss a $2.9 million capital bond ordinance, the new contract for the police department's Superior Officers Association and make a decision on the condition of the Water's Edge restaurant's liquor license.

 

Wednesday - A special visitor is making an appearance at 6 p.m. at the Berkeley branch of the Ocean County Library at 30 Station Road in Bayville. A penguin from Jenkinson's Aquarium is dropping by. Bring your cameras! No registration is required, but space is limited. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Berkeley Library.

Thursday - The Berkeley Township Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. at the Berkeley Township Elementary School at 10 Emory Road. Board members are slated to discuss the recent energy audit for the district. Formal action may be taken.

Thursday - "Birding by Kayak" will be held at Island Beach State Park. Bird lovers can glide through the calm waters of the Barnegat Bay to observe native birds in their natural habitat. The fee for the event is $25. The program is open to visitors 14 and up. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required. Sunday - The Berkeley Township Historical Museum is open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for tours. The museum is located in the original Town Hall at 630 Route 9 in Bayville. The museum features the private collections of area families, a circa-1900 kitchen and a special exhibit of Al Leiter baseball memorabilia. For more information, call 732-269-9572.
