Mayor Carmen Amato and Council members took some time out of the regular Berkeley Council meeting last night to recognize some of Berkeley's finest - township police who participated in the Special Olympics Torch Run and the Police Unity Tour.
The Torch Run supports Special Olympics programs "through fundraising and public awareness, while enhancing the quality of life for the athletes," according to information released from the organization.
The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty, according to information on the organization's website.
