The Morning Call for November 1, 2013

Halloween has come and gone, but chances are the sugar highs still remain, at least for the next few days.

Today and tonight will be soggy, but the National Weather Service is calling for clearing skies on Saturday.

Today - There's an 80 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. Winds will be from the southwest at 18 to 23 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 37 miles per hour.

Tonight - Mostly cloudy with a low near 54 degrees. There's a 40 percent, mostly before 4 a.m. Winds will be from the southwest at 6 to 10 miles per hour, before switching to the northwest west after midnight.

Saturday - Partly sunny, with a high near 65 degrees. Winds will be from the northwest at 6 to 10 miles per hour before switching to the west in the afternoon.

Things To Do:

• Special Township Council meeting, 9:30 a.m., Town Hall, 627 Pinewald-Keswick Road, Bayville. There will be second readings and public hearings on two ordinance - one to create the position of deputy police chief, one to raise the salaries of Municipal Utilities Authority and Berkeley Township Sewerage Authority commissioners up to $5,000 a year per commissioner.

What we are working on:

Election preview stories for the Berkeley Township and Central Regional school board races. Is the Republican organization in town lobbying for candidates in the non-partisan races?

Just what is the salary and benefits and name of the newly-appointed network administrator?
