The Morning Call for August 30, 2013


It's the last big weekend of the strange, post-Sandy summer of 2013, Hit Island Beach State Park today and avoid coming crush of visitors. The weather doesn't look too bad for today.

Today - The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies with a high near 80 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 9 miles per hour.

Tonight - Partly cloudy with a low near 67 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 9 miles per hour.

Saturday - Partly sunny with a high near 83 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 7 to 14 miles per hour. There's a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Things to Do:

Take a walk down the sugar sand paths of Double Trouble State Park off Pinewald-Keswick Road and check out the cranberry bogs.

What we are working on:

Berkeley Island County Park is still closed, ten months after Superstorm Sandy.

Update on bicyclist accident on Route 9 South on Thursday night.
