Police officers from Ocean County gathered yesterday at a somber service to  honor the county's fallen police officers.

The annual ceremony was especially poignant this year. Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz was gunned down while on duty on Jan. 11. Ocean Gate Patrolman Jason Marles was killed by a drunk driver on his way home after his shift on Nov. 25.

Portraits of both officers were unveiled at the ceremony.

Very Sad!! To die so young to begin with is very sad and to lose a life the line of duty protecting others just makes it twice as sad!! Unfortunately this is something his family and fiancee will live with the rest of their life. He will always be remembered and not forgotten by many I am sure!!

Very sad indeed, shame to see this yet it keeps happening.

On another note,...kudos to the photographer for capturing the story in pictures.
Much much better than the usual Patch fare.

I'm just heart broken for these officers and their families...their really isn't anything to say to help their pain, no time no nothing will ease the pain they are feeling..But they are always in my prayers that is for sure..
