Berkeley emergency management officials are bringing in more fire and police department members to help notify residents of the barrier island sections to evacuate on Sunday, Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. said.

That includes South Seaside Park and Pelican Island, the mayor said.

Amato, Police Chief Karin T. DiMichele and other township emergency management officials reviewed the storm's progress with state and county emergency management personnel this afternoon.

"Berkeley is taking direction from the county Office of Emergency Management," Amato said.

No decision has been made yet on whether to evacuate any other waterfront sections of the township, he said.

Both Central Regional Schools Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides and Berkeley Township Superintendent James D. Roselli agreed to close both districts for at least Monday, Amato said.

Berkeley is also working close with nearby Lacey Township emergency management officials to deal with the storm.

All state parks will close at noon on Sunday, according to a directive from the state Department of Environmental Protection.
