UPDATE: Toddler Hurt in Ocean Gate Domestic Dispute Released from Hospital

Child is staying with relatives at an undisclosed location, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says

A toddler injured in a domestic dispute at an Ocean Gate Avenue home on Friday has been released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Deputy Chief Detective Michael Mohel said.

The two-year-old suffered lacerations to its head and back during the incident, which were not life-threatening, Mohel said.

Ocean Gate police and investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office responded to a 911 call from 410 Ocean Gate Avenue, Apt. 3 at 2:40 a.m, he said.

"There will be no further information until possibly Monday," Mohel said. "It's an ongoing investigation."

The child is staying with relatives at an undisclosed location, he said.

I don't understand why this part of the state is receiving such terrible news. Have u ever looked at the Seaside boardwalk? Never in my long years down here did I ever see the boardwalk closed because of riots. What's happening?

Not that your comment has anything to do with this sad story of a two year old in the middle of a domestic dispute, but, the news is reported where it happens! This area is not receiving bad news as you put it, but we are producing it like everywhere else. If you read local news from different areas, it would still all be the same. Crime, violence, accidents etc happen everywhere and not just in this area. Expand your reading horizons and you will see.

As an Ocean County resident since 1970 I'd say about the same type of stories, certain towns and areas more than others. In the 80's we had riots over high school rivalry.

laceys craziest.....lots of questions. You must be kidding? No matter what your choices, why didn't she stop the guy? You tell us. And SHE is not to blame for someone else's crummy behavior. You missed that in human behavior 101. And, you also missed the lesson in typing/english. Oh, yeah, and only the woman had the baby!!! You are a true idiot. Why isn't it the idiot to impregnated her the idiot???? Oh yeah....one way street here. Poor comment. Full of holes and poor thought process. Unfortunately there are wonderful men everywhere that you can pluck off the street. And, it's times like this that make her realize he's truly and idiot.

Maybe you all should get to know the real story before you "reply" ill tell u that much...And Barbara thank you for being optimistic..you ever think that just possibly they may have been in an extremely terrifying situation? Maybe the abuser never showed this side before? Maybe the child was trying to be protected and saved from being truly hurt and on her way to escape the only other way possible because there was always the possibility that she was BARACADED IN...the only other way out was her best bet and in reach not in her hands he grabbed the most important thing to her? Yes think before you speak because you DO NOT KNOW the real story now do you? And have you ever been around someone who had lost there mind? well its scary and I HAVE! so screw off please..and research the real story to see that she may have used her head more than you know and tried to escape death of her son and her..and succeeded.. Thank you god.

If you read the original report, the suspect threw knives at the mother while the 2 year old was in-between them. Seems to me like one of the knives ricocheted off something and hit the boy.
