Three Area Men Arrested In Burglary of Bayville Home

All three are lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River

Police recently arrested two Bayville men and a Pine Beach man who are accused of stealing a number of items from a Hayes Avenue home, including a heavy gas grill, Detective Sgt. James J. Smith said.

Smith urged Berkeley residents to be vigilant and watch for suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods.

"To steal what they stole took great effort," Smith said. "We are using this as a reminder to people to look out for their neighbors. We encourage people to report suspicious activity. This wasn't easy."

Police arrested Cody Lessing, 19, Eastern Boulevard, Bayville, Ryan Blistyak, 20, Pine Beach and Dylan Kramer, 20, also Eastern Boulevard, in connection with the Aug. 30 thefts, Smith said.

The burglary took place sometime between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. The suspects broke a window on a rear porch door and ransacked the home while the residents were away, he said.

When Patrolman Michael Poikans and Dectective Joseph Santoro responded, they discovered a number of items had been taken, including jewelry, jewelry boxes, coins, currency, free weights and the gas grill, Smith said.

Many of the items were later recovered in local pawn shops, he said.

"Detective Santoro and Detective John Legg developed some leads which lead them to the arrests," Smith said. "We were able to return most of the property to the homeowners. We do weekly checks of pawn shops."

Lessing was charged with burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and theft by deception. Municipal Court Judge James Gluck set his bail at $20,000, with a ten percent option, police said.

Blistyak and Kramer were both charged with burglary and theft. Blistyak's bail was set at $70,000 with a ten percent option. Kramer's bail was set at $5,000 with a ten percent option, Smith said.

Why is there a 10% option on their bail ? They violated the safety and sanctity of someone's home. Slap on the wrist and they're back on the street plotting their next crime. So many break ins in our area because criminals are coddled.

Yes Lori, he is & not much was done about it. He was put on PTI and didn't fulfill the requirements. One family was stalked after that & the child was so traumatized the family had to move away. Berkeley police were sympathetic and did their best. When it reach the Prosecutor's office it was not important enough to put him away, slap on the hand. So surprise of his bail, year ago when he shot the airgun it was $100,000 bail with no 10%, then reduced. What does he have to do to spend some prison time? Does anyone care that a year later these children are still effected as well as their families? Thank you Detective Santoro for taking an interest, greatly appreciated!!!

Something has to be done to address the ever-growing drug problem, this is the root of these guys criminal behavior, more than likely! Crime driven by addiction. Locking them up is what alot of them need to wake them up!

Cody and Ryan are both scumbags. I grew up with these kids and they're not the best kids around especially Cody and Ryan but Dylan is a good kid. I know I'm gonna get a bunch of people saying a bunch of bullshit saying i'm a maniac and i don't know what im talking about but the truth is none of you know what your talking about. I totally agree, Cody should sit in jail. He shot a little kid with a air soft gun in the face and got caught with drug paraphernalia and didn't do really any time and Ryan is just a freak lol but me and Dylan have been friends for a long time and he's gotten very sick from drugs and if the govt would offer some kind of treatment for kids like this we wouldn't have so many "criminals". He just needs help getting his life together. Some people can't afford rehab so they're stuck being sick every day and need to do anything they can to feel better. Its really a shame. Lock up Cody and Ryan and I will PERSONALLY throw away the key but Dylan has a clean record other than a few traffic violations so he deserves a second chance. give him 6 months in a rehab facility and he should really blossom.

as Dylans friend I suggest you drag his ass to a hospital and tell them he keeps talking about killing himself, by law the hospital must evaluate him for at least 12 hours, get together with his parents and any close friends or family and do an intervention, the "drug addiction" doesnt make him a "dirt bag", its the stealing from people who work hard to have the things that they stole that gives him that label!

Users will only quit when they are ready to quit. You cant make him or anyone clean without their consent. Give them options, but its up to them.

Dylan is a good kid I've been trying to keep him away from the bs, we were going to the beach about 4 times a week, surfing waves and finding something positive to do and we were well dedicated to it.it's a damn shame but he will be helped hopefully

Cody only gets off easy because of who his parents are, and his step fathers involvement in everything in town at one point or another.

Sounds like you have some friends that care about you! Lose the ones you "thought" were your friends and focus on a new life for yourself, for your own sake...and your family! Praying for your successul recovery!
