Residents affected by Hurricane Sandy are urged to come to the Bayville First Aid Squad building at the corner of Route 9 South and Station Road Saturday to pick up food and supplies they may need in the coming weeks.

Donations can be dropped off at the squad building on Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Regional High School Vice-Principal Michelle Ramsay and and other volunteers waiting to accept sort them.

New and used clothing, cleaning products, non-perishable foods, toys, books, and school supplies - all collected since the hurricane -will be given out to anyone impacted by the storm, Ramsay said.

Ramsay is thrilled with the amount of donations already received and those to come.

"We have so much to offer," she said. "We are literally receiving truckloads from all over. I have a truck coming up from Florida, I have a truck coming from Virginia. It feels like a holiday around here."

Tables will be set up inside and outside the squad building on  "Super Saturday," which will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The weather is expected to be around 50 degrees, Ramsay said.

"It's not raining," she said. "That's the important thing."

Ramsay asks that people hold off on donating clothes or perishable food items.

"We do not need any more clothing," she said. "At the end of the night, anything left over will be donated to the Army National Guard."

Ramsay credited Central Regional Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides and Mayor Carmen F. Amato Jr. for coming up with the idea and Central Regional Board of Eduction members for their support.
