State DEP: Poor Air Quality Tuesday

People sensitive to changes in air quality advised to take precautions today

As another day of oppressive heat rains down with temperatures nearing 100, the state Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday said ozone levels in the Garden State will reach unhealthy levels.

Because of westerly winds, hot temperatures and sunny skies, the state DEP said that those sensitive to changes in air quality — including the very young, the elderly, and those with respiratory diseases such as asthma — should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours Tuesday in central and southern New Jersey.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly is forcasting high temperatures today closing in on 100 degees.
