Some Roads "Gone;" Berkeley To Hold Emergency Meeting

Houses lost in Glen Cove section

Township officials have called an emergency council meeting at 9 a.m. on Saturday at town hall on Pinewald-Keswick Road.

"I want to help people get resolution on any problems," said Council President James J. Byrnes.

Byrnes lost his home in the Glen Cove section of Bayville.

The township is bringing in additional building department staff to help with permits. The township is waving permit fees and officials will help in demolition.

"Sandalwood Drive is gone," Byrnes said.

I just want to thank the members of the Berkeley Township Underwater Search and Rescue Squad 86 (BTUSAR) for all they've done to rescue people trapped by flood waters. My friends on the squad have been working so hard, even as their own homes have been damaged or destroyed.

Good luck point is like a war zone. There are about 4 houses that have either collapsed or was just washed away. So it's not were councilman Bynes lives that was destroyed it was the entire coast of Bayville. But I guess that is also why there are township vehicles on that side of town helping with the clean.

Natty Bumppo, why hide behind that name? How engaged are you? You're busy criticizing instead of out there helping? The mayor is working his tail off as for a lot of people..And hell, while your at it, use your real name..My 7 yr.old was helping today in a shelter, where you there? So put up or shut up....

Since tax bills are not out yet, will there be a longer grace period for November 1 installment?

often ignored for many, many years. south seaside park was devastated and still no mention here. when can the residents access their homes on the island? who has that answer and when. don't forget, we pay the highest taxes in the township, and should receive the highest relief monies. hey mayor, how about a fema office on the island? no mention of that.
