UPDATE: Shelters Opening at Central Regional HS, Silver Ridge Park West
With colder temperatures coming, shelters being opened for warmth
Berkeley Township is opening two shelters for residents who still have no power, so they can stay warm as temperatures continue to drop.
The main gymnasium at Central Regional High School will open at 2 p.m., said Mayor Carmen F. Amato. A second shelter is opening at the clubhouse in Silver Ridge Park West, Amato said. Initially it was to be at Silver Ridge Park East, but a larger number of homes in the Silver Ridge Park West area are without power, necessitating the move, he said.
"JCP&L is sticking to its seven to 10 days before power is completely restored," Amato said. "It's not coming back on as fast as we'd like."
Neither location is a Red Cross shelter, Amato said, so those seeking shelter at either location should bring sleeping bags or blow-up mattresses, pillows or other bedding and can bring non-perishable food as well.
Residents also should bring any and all needed medications with them to the shelter.

Uh oh there goes the property tax base ..... Guess those by the water really should have been paying alot less in property taxes as living by the water is not all it's cracked up to be. Towns are going to go bankrupt now the gravy train has been derailed for good.

For those in need of clothing, toiletries, baby items, food, water, ice etc... go to the Berkeley Township Recreation Building on Route 9 in Bayville. They have been given plenty of donations by generous people for people who have suffered such loss.
