Silver Alert Issued for Middletown Senior Last Seen on Garden State Parkway
Missing woman is 85 and suffers from dementia
Police are asking for the public's help in finding an 85-year-old Asian female with dementia whose car drove south on the Garden State Parkway through the Brick toll plaza on Tuesday night, said Brick police.
The woman being sought, through a Silver Alert, lives on Greeley Court in Middletown, said Middletown police, who are not releasing her name.
The woman is 5 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs 125 pounds, has brown eyes, black hair and was last seen by her family on Sunday, Brick police.
Her car is a 2003 gray Honda Accord with license plate NNA92P.
The woman's EZ Pass information shows that her car drove south through the Brick toll plaza at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, after her family had reported her missing earlier that day, Brick police said.
She is "known to frequent Hazlet and Middletown," and has undiagnosed dementia, according to the Silver Alert that has been sent out to area police departments, police said.
Anyone with information should contact Middletown police at (732) 615-2077.

"undiagnosed dimentia"?? How do they know that she has it? If she does, why does her family let her have a car and drive? Plus she has an EZ Pass account. Maybe she just wants to get away from her family.

It happened in my family too. There are some clues early on but nothing consistent and definitive. Most people don't want to hear that they have any form of dementia and will avoid going to the doctor to get tested and get diagnosed. Many people don't realize that there are treatments available if they are diagnosed early. Unfortunately in some cases the first sever episode results in the individual going missing for an extended period of time. My step-father was fine until the day he never came home from dropping paperwork off at the accountant's office. He was confused and kept driving hoping that he would be able to find his way home. My beloved step-father was missing for 30 hours. He finally was too tired and too hungry to keep driving so he pulled in to a gas station and called the police for help. It's sad but it happens. For certain, this lady should not be allowed behind the wheel again. It wasn't easy but we never allowed my step-father to drive again after that incident.

Either you've been diagnosed with dementia or you haven't..
Undiagnosed means you might have some symptions..
Just hoping that she's found okay.

I would assume that she is living with family, someone left their car keys out for a car that had an EZ Pass in it and in her altered state of mind, she took them and drove off, thinking she had somewhere to be when she did not. I have known some seniors that clearly had alzheimers and it did not need to be medically diagnosed; it was overly apparent. I pray they find this poor woman soon.

The experience of dealing with a loved one moving through the finial stages of life is not an easy one. Ridden with guilt and frustration, the compassionate family fights the inevitable for many years before placing their loved one into an assisted living home. Most times, its they, the family, who suffer most. I pray for them all.

It seems obvious that some of you never had to deal with a person with dementia. Thank goodness!! Don't judge until you have walked in the families shoes. I know, it is one of the hardest things I personally have experienced. I pray they locate her.

I'm assuming she exited the Parkway in Brick at 89... So she drove through our area or into Lakewood. She could be anywhere by now. I hope she is OK, stops in a public place and asks for help. She would need food, gas or a rest stop by now. I also hope she doesn't cause an accident.

Ya know, I hate to say it, but I think EZ PASS just show it has some value....for this one, brief, flitting moment. It should only be activated when NJ issues a Silver Alert.

It is also worth mentioning that I hope she has funds on the account...or she is going to get a .75 violation....with a $50 service fee...and she will HAVE TO PAY IT.....

Unfortunately, there was and is more press for the negligent dog owners who let their animals out without a tag, collar or microchip to relieve themselves the other night. Where are all the volunteers that searched for that dog now that a human with a medical condition is missing? What a world we live in. People will step over the homeless in their own town to go and make a donation to the Red Cross for Haiti. Very sad...

Hmmmm....just because you didn't read that people were out looking for this poor woman doesn't mean they weren't. If you don't know the whole story then maybe you shouldn't assume! YOU do know what happens to those that ASSUME ?
