Their antics on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” may have made them notorious, but the behavior of Snooki and JWoww since renting a Johnson Avenue home in Manchester has been very much on the quiet side, according to both Police Chief Brian Klimakowski and local residents.
“We have received no calls into police dispatch regarding their residence,” said the chief. “The only call I received was a personal one from a gentleman on that street who requested that we put up speed limit signs, or signs which remind everyone there’s a playground nearby, in order to control the speed limit there.”
The chief said the resident who called him stated that those wanting to see the house on Johnson Avenue were speeding through the neighborhood to do so, but apart from that, there have been no disturbances to speak of in the area.
“We’ll certainly continue to monitor the area, but there have been no issues. No loud parties or anything like that,” Klimakowski said. “Neighbors that I’ve spoken with said it was very quiet.”
Residents contacted this week concurred with the chief.
“There’s been no commotion. Honestly, you wouldn’t even know that they’re there,” said Amy Freeman, a Johnson Avenue resident. “Except for some traffic that’s coming through to check out the house, that’s really been the only thing.”
Fellow neighbor Maureen O’Brien agreed.
“We have had no problems with them whatsoever. There’s been a fence put in the back of the house, so if anything was filmed outside, that’s probably where it would be,” she said.
O’Brien also referenced the increased traffic presence in the area.
“The street is really only one block long. The one issue is that people are coming by to look at the house, and they’re parking in the lot for the nearby park,” said O’Brien. “But they (Snooki & JWoww) have been very quiet.”
Mayor Michael Fressola stated in a recent letter to Manchester Patch that the production company filming Snooki and JWoww’s television show pledged that they would “try hard to be good neighbors” for the time that they are based in Manchester.
