Sorry, but I think it is highly exploitive and intrusive to post pictures here of the family grieving and of the casket. To show the fellow marines standing there or to show flags is one thing, but these people deserve the right to grieve without their photo being taken and published.

He died for the OIL! Bush and Obama's oil wars in the middle east!

I think this whole war is a waste of life! Bring these brave kids home to there families. They are already to many lives lost. My prayers are with the families and children of these brave fallen heros

Unfortunately, those are the breaks of being in the military. People will go to war and can get killed. Those that join the military and especially those with husbands/wives/kids have to really think about the fact that they could get killed in many different ways and leave a family behind. Mates also have to really think about and accept the fact that their military mate can go to war and can get killed. Also, they have to understand that if something happens, there will be all types of news reports and pictures will be taken. So, with all that said, if people are going to be "proud of their military mate/family member," they have to be able to accept anything with it being a shock and to ask "now what am I going to do???"

Just making a statement from a previous comment. As for your comment, getting killed in a freak accident at a place of work does not happen often. After all, not everyone works in a dangerous coal mine. What we are talking about is being a soldier/marine in a dangerous war zone where rocket attacks happen, ambushes are made, and IEDs are planted (just to name a few interesting possibilities). We are not talking about stocking shelves at a local Shop Rite. Now, to those that have lost family in freak accidents, I can imagine them saying "how could this happen???" However, if a military mates asks that of an incident in a war zone, isn't that bit oblivious?? Oh well...

I was near water street in Toms River & saw the procession forming. How I wish I had a flag to join the flag line, I wanted to jump out of my car. I SALUTE Marine Cpl. Monahan. God bless his family/children & hold them in his embrace. This ultimate sacrifice derserves a hero's memorial. Thank you for your service & my freedom. Please end this war. No mother should have to endure this lost.

as a father of a marine who unit that chris replaced i feel that this brave marine should be praised my son was also injury in a ied attack all who think that this war is for Bush or oil should think about the 3 thousand that died o 9/11 and sttop whinning about war for oil maybe their should get off their asses and due something for their country and see what it is all about

WHEREAS, Corporal Monahan’s heroism, patriotism, and service to his country and his fellow Marines make it appropriate and fitting for the State of New Jersey to remember him and his family, to mark his passing, and to honor his memory;

A young man died in service of his country and I admire his courage. Soldiers do not decide the battle. His heroism begins when he answers the call of his government. Politics count but not on the day of a hero's burial.
