Couple That Ran Daycare Center In Bayville Indicted On Criminal Mischief And Theft Charges
Original arrest made on Jan. 24, 2012
An Ocean County grand jury recently indicted a local couple in connection with a January 2012 incident when they moved their Bayville daycare center to another location.
Charles and Denise Wolf were each indicted on one count of third-degree theft and one count of criminal mischief, according to the indictment.
The couple "...purposely and knowingly did damage the tangible property of John Paipakis, causing pecuniary loss in excess of $2,000...according to the indictment.
The theft charge in the indictment states the two took fixtures and flooring worth over $500.
The couple was originally accused of causing $10,000 worth of damage to the unit at 950 Route 9 - where they ran Tomorrow's Future - and stealing $10,000 worth of items, according to the police report.
Wood flooring was torn out, sinks taken off walls, sheetrock was damaged and electrical lines ripped out, the police report states.
The owner of the unit the couple rented from had evicted the Wolfs earlier that month. The owner went to the unit after he heard reports that the couple were threatening to damage the unit and remove items from the property, according to the police report.
Nearby tenants told police the bulk of the moving took place on Jan. 24, 2012. The co-manager for the property at 950 Route 9 accompanied police to the new location at 661 Route 9 and identified furniture that had been taken.
Police obtained a search warrant and later arrested Charles Wolf. His bail was set at $35,000. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River. Denise Wolf was arrested and charged with theft and criminal mischief, the police report states.
