Board of Ed Meetings Slated For Same Night This Week
Central, Berkeley school boards both meeting on Thursday
Take your pick.
Anyone interested in attending the monthly Berkeley Board of Education or Central Regional Board of Education meetings will have to choose between the two later this week.
Both meetings are scheduled for Thursday evening. Berkeley kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in the Berkeley Township Elementary School at 10 Emory Avenue and Central Regional gets underway at 7 p.m. in the board meeting room at the high school off Forest Hills Parkway.
The Berkeley school board traditionally meets on the last Thursday of the month; Central's usual meeting time is the third Thursday of each month.
Berkeley Schools Superintendent James D. Roselli said this month's Sept. 27 meeting had to be moved to Sept. 20 so the board would have a quorum.
"When we can't have a quorum, we have to accomodate," Roselli said.
This not the first time this year the two school boards have met on the same night. Berkeley has changed meeting dates previously.
Central Regional moved their August meeting back a week last month to take care of last-minute business before school opened, Central Business Administrator Kevin O'Shea said.
"Last month we did move ours back to the fourth Thursday," he said. "That was the only time we were out of order."
Roselli said he understands that some parents have children in both school districts, which makes it difficult to attend board meetings on the same night.

I like how the current board members are using the Berkeley School District Facebook page as their personal campaign page. Tons of pics of the board members running for election but no one else. I cannot wait for November.

Thomas stop crying. If you become a board member in November you too can be on FACEBOOK and every decision you make will be criticized by people just like you!

They will merge the same day current board members and those running
for their seats hold debates so the voters know what they all stand for and
will state so in a public forum. The Repubs. and Dems could fund the
debates.

I'd love to know why 2 "supervisors" were hired at $75K each to do "observations" and, in the meantime, class sizes at Bayville School are exceeding 26 students in each 4th grade (there are 3 fourth grade classes) and 25 students EACH IN KINDERGARTEN (there are 4 kindergarten classes)!!!! 25 KINDERGARTEN CHILDREN IN ONE ROOM TO ONE TEACHER!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY???????
Why ----for the salary of ONE supervisor----didn't the district hire another 4th grade and kindergarten teacher to alleviate classroom crowding????????
If teachers are being asked to perform more and more tasks with the same pay, why can't the principals do these "observations" without having to hire supervisors to do their work for them??? Another waste of taxpayer dollars, another example of how our children need to suffer.

How about them sending students to mantou park for extra help in stead of there own schools . Middle School and High school have an hour after school at school and transportation home i pay enough taxes they need to provide the service.

Chief: Merging Berkeley and Central would take an act of the state legislature and that's not going to happen. The Berkeley teachers would probably like it since they most would get a significant pay raise.

Sounds like a very good question.
When you ask the BOE kindly post
their answer.
