No Injuries When Boat Slams into Gazebo

State Police on scene at Cove Road home

New Jersey State Police are trying to determine what caused a roughly 40-foot power boat to careen off the Toms River, up onto the sand of a Cove Road property  and into a gazebo.

No one was injured in the accident, which happened sometime around 10:30 p.m. in the Toms River Shores section of Bayville, Berkeley Township Patrolman John Fosbre said.

Guy  Capeino and his wife -- down for the weekend visiting her father -- were sitting on a porch next door watching the night sky when they heard the collision.

"It actually sounded like it went through the house," he said. "It went through the gazebo, then into the weeds. It was roaring up a storm."

The boat's motor was still running and music was blaring after the collision, Capeino said.

"I was trying to find out if everybody was alright," he said. "Then I dialed 911. They actually didn't know where they were. I said, 'You almost drove up on the road.'  At least they were't hurt."

The Bayville First Aid Squad also responded. The boat landed on property owned by local realtor Ann Schuld. The house was not damaged, police said.

Berkeley Patch will have more on this developing story later today.

I can't wait to hear whether or not alcohol was a contributing factor. If so, I hope the authorities throw the book at the boat pilot! Circus Pig
