Bites Nearby: China Town

Eat local

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch's Jersey Shore region picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out.

Here's this week's choice:

China Town, 400 Lacey Rd., Whiting. 732-350-8855

The scene: Located in the Stop & Shop plaza near Routes 70 and 530, China Town offers a simple dining option for those who might work up an appetite food shopping and can’t quite wait long enough to get home and cook. Then again, it may be one of those days when you wish someone else would do the cooking for you. The good news is, orders will be delivered with a $10 minimum purchase. China Town's casual setting provides a quick and easy way to dine out while completing errands in nearby shopping centers.

The eats: Whether it's General Tso’s chicken, egg drop soup, sesame chicken or shrimp fried rice, you’ll find all the Chinese dishes you know and love on this menu, along with a nice touch of Cantonese, Hunan and Szechuan combination platters. Don’t forget to leave room for that egg roll after your entrée, and enjoy a fortune cookie and hot tea after your dinner.
