Bayville Man Tried to Pass Bogus RX for Percocet, Indictment Charges
Ocean grand juries hand up indictments
A Bayville man attempted to pass a phony prescription at an area Rite Aid this summer, a grand jury indictment charges.
Sameh E. Abuseif, 28, of Marlin Court was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury last week on charges of attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud as well as uttering a forged instrument, both third-degree charges.
Authorities said Abuseif attempted to obtain Percocet at a Beachwood Rite Aid on July 14 by passing a bogus prescription form.
He was initially jailed on $15,000 bail but posted Aug. 5.
Grand juries also indicted:
- Michael S. Corliss of Forked River on theft and conspiracy to deal in stolen property charges.
Corliss, 20, was charged with stealing a Berkeley woman's rings sometime between Aug. 1 and Sept. 9, as well as working with an accomplice on a plan to sell the rings, authorities said.
He was released on a summons.
- John W. Thomas of Bayville, 44, for stealing and selling a Berkeley woman's rings, authorities said.
Thomas, of Shore Boulevard, was charged with theft for allegedly taking the woman's rings between Aug. 18 and Aug. 26 and dealing in stolen property for allegedly selling them. The rings were worth at least $200.
Thomas made $1000 bail Sept. 2.
- A Bayville pair on drug charges.
Francesca D. Rossi, 20, and Richard A. Matthews, 46, both of Northern Boulevard, after being arrested in Toms River June 23.
Matthews was found with methadone and oxycodone, said police, who also charged him with possession with intent to distribute both drugs as well as distribution of both substances.
Rossi was charged with possession of both methadone and oxycodone.
She was released on a summons while Matthews remains lodged in Ocean County Jail on $10,000 bail, no 10 percent option.
- Robert Fennick of Bayville, 50, on a possession of cocaine charge.
Fennick was accused of possessing the drug when arrested July 16 in Berkeley.
- Richard Edelman of Berkeley, 42, on a charge of possession of a weapon by a convicted person.
Edelman was arrested Sept. 2 in the township after police said he was found to be in possession of multiple knives, which is prohibited based on his conviction on a possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute charge.
He was released on a summons.
